What is pickling?
The surface of the stainless steel is pickled to form a dense oxide film. This process is called pickling passivation. This film is the key to stainless steel not rusting and corroding in general media, so the stainless steel surface that needs to be preserved must be acid-washed and passivated at the end. The most important and only purpose of pickling is to remove the scale on the surface of the stainless steel. The condition of the scale is that the heat treatment without the protective gas protection will produce scale when heated at a high temperature. Therefore, the stainless steel does not have to be pickled. It is only needed if there is scale on the surface.
